Mike has spoken at several local, regional and national events (including the 2010 SQL PASS Summit, where his session feedback put Mike in the top 15 out of 185 reviewed sessions and on the “Best Of Summit 2010” DVD). He enjoys speaking about what he is passionate about when it comes to technology –
- Helping DBAs avoid best practices blunders.
- Sharing the tools to improve SQL Server performance.
- Remembering that everyone starts some place – talks to help beginners grow.
- Professional Development/Disaster Mitigation Discussions
In 2011 and beyond, Mike hopes to give more presentations like his “Iceberg, Dead Ahead!” talk that he shared with the first annual SQL Rally in Orlando. This talk takes lessons from disasters found in the aviation world to our day jobs as technologists. There are surprisingly a lot of corollaries there and we can be a lot better at preventing, preparing for and getting through disasters in the technology world.
Normally when Mike talks he creates a blog post with relevant links and access to the slide deck. Some of his favorite presentations to give lately:
