Jeff and Geoff – We’re growing.

Hey!!! The last team announcement post was about our good friend and Senior Consultant, Joe Fleming moving on to the scary world of independent consulting. I cannot tell you how great it is to be working at a company that cares so much about the team, that we’ll even help make someone have a soft landing to explore their dreams in the big bad world. Joe has transitioned to Independent life, but we can’t shake him! He’s still in our e-mail and Teams and joining our team meetings and making (usually bad, just like mine) jokes with us while he bills to us – his biggest and first client.

Well, today I’m doing two (kind of overdue) announcements about people coming on board. Keeping with our proud tradition of trying to confuse the team and clients with similar names (I mean part of our 17 or so employees consist of the names Mike, Mike, Mike, Mike, Bruce, Bruce, and now Jeff and Geoff), it’s a tale of two similar names.

You can read about their bios on our about us page. But I’ll say a few words about each and why I’m excited they are joining our team, well why they have joined our team.

Jeff Iannucci

He’s someone I’ve followed on Twitter for a while and watched his growing speaking accomplishments from afar. When we posted our job description on Brent Ozar’s blog post for February hiring (TIME FLIES – I actually said March, but then realized it was February when I searched for it), I was blown away by the great responses we got (THANKS, BRENT!!!) and I was super super excited when I got a really funny and fantastic e-mail from Jeff Iannucci, the Desert DBA (Not dessert, though I think that would be a funny parody account). And we had some fun repartee in e-mail after his interview – We just knew he was the one. So far, I am quite positive that we made an amazing move bringing Jeff on board the team – and any congratulations should be directed at us for that level up. Check out his bio on the about us page, and welcome him to the team!

Jeff has a new Pluralsight course out also! Check it out! I think we’ll be giving him the keys to the @StraightPathSQL Twitter account also to help up our interactions and content there. Check us out and see what we share.

Geoff Dawdy

“G-Geoff” is how I’m saying his name these days. But Jeff Iannucci has a nickname we can use also, so we’ll see how this works out. Geoff is a really thoughtful and amazing technologist. He joined our support team as a DBA/Mentor there and he is doing a great job helping the support team level up. He started as a contract to hire – and he’s done so well, he’s coming aboard full time in a week, and he’s been pulling double duty helping all of our clients as a senior member of the support team and owning several clients (All of our DBA as a Service clients have a dedicated lead DBA, and he has shown a full embodiment of our core values – Ownership Mentality, Humility, Integrity, and Generosity) and he is helping make their daily health check green and tackle their growth and level up their environments. Geoff is local which is nice, he is super helpful, has a really wide range of knowledge and is an amazing member of our team. Check out his bio on our about us page also!

Article by Mike Walsh
Mike loves mentoring clients on the right Systems or High Availability architectures because he enjoys those lightbulb moments and loves watching the right design and setup come together for a client. He started Straight Path in 2010 when he decided that after over a decade working with SQL Server in various roles, it was time to try and take his experience, passion, and knowledge to help clients of all shapes and sizes. Mike is a husband, father to four great children, and a Christian. He’s a volunteer Firefighter and EMT in his small town in New Hampshire, and when he isn’t playing with his family, solving SQL Server issues, or talking shop, it seems like he has plenty to do with his family running a small farm in NH raising Beef Cattle, Chickens, Pigs, Sheep, Goats, Honeybees and who knows what other animals have been added!
